With new updates to engine and electronics' she is already catching fish! Sea trials resulted in a extra 2 knots from last year and resulted in raising 8 sails with 3 double hook ups! Now that's the way to get 2012 off with a bang.

  APRIL, 2011
Quepos Fishing Charters has been a real mixed bag for April with the bite moving in and out almost every day no one knows what the next day will bring. Mad Marlin has had great charters for the month with many sailfish being released at the boat. Mad Marlin is proud to one of the only boats in the Quepos fleet with Marlin being released this month. We had several so far. One being over 400 lb Costa Rica black marlin which was had some amazing acrobatics and was really quite a show!. We have had several nice Calbera Snappers plus a few nice Dorado for the dinner table. Also had a great many nice size Roosterfish inshore.

  March, 2011
This month the fishing is at the height of Costa Rica Fishing, producing huge numbers of Sailfish. With records of Quepos fishing boats catching 20 plus sailfish its turning out to be a wild months. The beginning of the month the boats were definitely pushing out further than our average 18-23 miles and consistently at 38-50 miles some days, however those captains rewarded their anglers with an awesome Sailfish Bite. So just some advice.... When you come to Quepos, there are some brokers and boat owners that are advertising the cheapest deals on boats or are all over Craigslist to get the Charter. If you are spending the money to go Offshore, wouldn't you prefer to be on a boat with a Crew that wants to catch fish almost more than you. Read the Fishing Reports and deal with a company that has a reputation of Pleasing anglers has been here for a long time.

  February, 2011
The bite for the beginning of February somewhat leveled off on the Marlin Bite and the number of Sailfish being released consistently 2-6 per boat per day. Yellow Fin Tuna was the catch of the month with lots of delighted anglers. The average for clients bringing in 7 football sized Yellowfin Tuna to the catch of a 120 lb. Yellowfin. Clients, crew and half of Quepos ate good that night. We were into a good moon phase by the second week and the numbers on Sailfish started to turn around with double digits again, Still Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado. The Inshore bite was consistently producing some huge Roosterfish delighting anglers with some real nice trophys, 50-80 pounds of trophy. The end of February proved to be back to fishing that we all expect with amazing daily release numbers on Sailfish.

  January, 2011
The height of our season in Quepos really starts to peak in January. With lots of Marlin, mainly 2 of the three species common here the blue and striped Marlin is what we tend to see on a daily basis along with Pacific Sailfish the primary target here and lots of Dorado. The fishing here is so amazing. This past January 2011 I don't think we had one offshore trip without the release of a Marlin and almost a perfect mix for anglers with Marlin, Pacific Sailfish and Dorado. The Inshore bite for the Prized Roosterfish was really abundant with days of 25 Roosters for Inshore anglers and lots of Spanish Mackerel. Fly Fishing here in Quepos for Costa Rica Fly Fishing Anglers was terrific for all of those fishing this method in the month of January.
